Holding a business degree and a master's degree in education, Mercer found inspiration for a new creative chapter while watching his wife and daughter draft novels of their own. Inspired by their work—and by the gripping pace of the thrillers he loves—he began crafting stories centered on ordinary people, difficult choices, and the consequences that follow. As a Navy veteran, avid aviation enthusiast, wood worker and classic car restorer, he brings a sharp eye for detail, technical precision, and high-stakes tension to his writing. When he isn't plotting twists or working in his woodshop, Mercer can often be found restoring classic cars. The First Choice is his debut novel and the first in the Project Sentinel series.
